Green Energy

Τhe investment in renewable energy is both economically advantageous and socially responsible. This is the reason it constitutes an excellent choice for a dynamic and modern company with a sense of responsibility to its shareholders but also towards the natural environment and society.

Since the creation and enforcement of the legal framework for the promotion of electricity production from photovoltaic systems in our country, the Group saw the opportunity to develop a new business, which would provide stable income and high returns and at the same time would be in line with our concept for social responsibility and sustainable development.

In the aforementioned frame, BITROS STEEL submitted in 2007 to RAE two applications for electricity production from photovoltaic systems of 2MW each, taking advantage of the large roof area of its installations in Aspropyrgos and Sindos. The company has installed one PV station of 2MW in its property in Aspropyrgos, which was connected to the grid in November 2011 and one PV station of 2MW in its property in the industrial area of Sindos, which was connected to the grid in May 2012.

BITROS STEEL together with Tsakos Group, bought in 2011, TX Energy, a company that owns the electricity production rights of two photovoltaic stations of total power of 2.8 ΜW. The  company has installed one pv station of 1.5 MW in the area of Assiros, S. Salonica and one pv station of 1.3 MW in the area of Raches, Korithios, near Tripoli. Both pv stations were connected to the grid in April, 2012.

BITROS REBARS bought, also in 2011, ILIOTOPIO S.A. a company that owns the electricity production rights of one pv station of 2.0 MW. The company has installed the PV station of 2.0 MW in its property in Vrisika, Municipality of Sparta, which was connected to the grid in April, 2012.

After the completion of the construction and grid connection of the pv plants mentioned above, the total power of the group's portfolio sums up to approximately 10MW. All pv plants have been constructed by the affiliate BIG SOLAR SA, one of the biggest companies in the Greek photovoltaic market.
Finally, applications concerning 15MW of total power have been sumbitted by various companies belonging to the Group and are found in different licensing stages. These projects are in alignment with the strategy of the group to broaden its presence in the electricity production field from RES.
